Interactive Light Art Installation (PICTURE)

Cloud - Interactive Light Art Installation for Boffo Show House

As the entry piece at the Boffo Show House, Focus Lighting's interactive installation -- "Cloud" -- unifies the four Show House experiences by ushering guests in with a veil of ever-changing color overhead. The LED nodes illuminating the 200 tubes and up lighting the ceiling above the installation's 16 wooden discs employ infrared sensors that allow "Cloud" to process the movement beneath it. As visitors enter the 35-foot long hallway, a dynamic shift in color springs ahead of them, cycling randomly to one of 12 shows, each with themes derived from nature. The light also becomes more dynamic as it senses increased activity within the hallway, giving "Cloud" a life of its own.

What attracted you to this piece of interactive art in the first place?

- What attracted me to this piece of an interactive art because its LED nods that can change color when there are guests who come through 35-foot long hallway.I also love the color , its make me want to go there to feel it.

How did you feel when you first saw this interactive art ?

- The first time I saw this interactive art, I was impressed with the way this things are done. I also felt it was very interesting because of the way they use LED nodes to detect the presence of guests when come through 35-foot long hallway and every light color will change so beautifully , a dynamic shift in color springs ahead of them, cycling randomly to one of 12 shows, each with themes derived from nature.

What element/s made this interactive art successful in engaging you?

- The way the LED nodes change when it detect the presence of guests. Its beautiful color also make me to choose this interactive art.One more thing is the way they arrange the LED. Its shape!..Its color ! ...very beautiful...

Question 4

What was the ‘wow’ factor for you ?

- The wow factor for me is that I'm amazed how the light can change color when there are presence guests who come through that 35-foot long hallway.How its cycling randomly to one of 12 shows, each with themes derived from nature and at last its produce a very beautiful scene.

Question 5

If there is one thing that you want to add to this interactive artwork, what would it be?

- I will add the sound !...because its will make the guest that come through that 35-foot long hallway will feel more attract to this interactive artwork.Its will make guest more happy and feel the way its work.

Final Artwork of Assignment 2

This few weeks have been really hard for my team members and also myself. We have to struggle to finish our assignment until late night and also rushing here and there. So anyway, today we have already submitted our final assignment for CG3! Our dear lecturer, was shocked that we made a video almost 3 minute! although it end up OK OK la because not much time plus it needs a lot of work! Still, I feel really happy that we manage to finish it :)!

Our final artwork as I mention before is slightly different from the storyboard that we have created. This is due to our bad time management :(. The REAL story is actually about a stickman/circular figure holding a flag and walk/run on top of typography. At the half way of the video, the stick man will start to fight some other stick figure(enemy) and then wins. Then he started to go higher on typography to show his victory and love for the country. But alas, we did not have much time. So we have made final artwork without the stickman. But I am still happy of our work. Every each member have put their effort to make this video.

The link on top is the song that we have choose

for our background music for this final assignment.

The title of the song is "Keranamu Hatiku Malaysia" by Manis.

I must say that our progress before does not look good at all. Probably because my group and I are still new at making kinetic typography. On wednesday (25th of April), my group have consulted with Madam Lydia and also the guest of the day, Mr. Rami. Before the consultation, we felt not confident enough to show our video progress. But thanks to madam Lydia and Mr. Rami's encouragement, everything goes very well. After the consultation is done, we decided to discuss again on what to change and what should we do to make our work much better than before.

Our leader already assign all the members each one of them work.

1. Siti Raihan is incharge of designing the background of the video.

2. Fatin Nuramanina is incharge in making story boards and post it on blog.

3. Nur Faizah is incharge in finding fonts and also designing the CD cover.

4. Nurain and myself are in charge in arranging each words and tweening in flash.

Here are some of our progress.

First of all, we have to re-write the lyric in Adobe Illustrator and choose what fonts we wanted to use.

After done choosing the font, started to break apart the lyrics so can group EACH of the words and change the size of some of the font.

After that, re-arrange the font to in Adobe Illustrator to make them look more interesting. This way u can already know how to move the font according to the arrangement that u have made.

After that, started to arrange the words again and using few ways to move the words. Such as Motion Presets and also Motion Tween. After two days making this work, we got bored of the song. HAHAAHAHAHA. Since we have to "Click + Enter" to view our work in motion EVERYTIME we have done inserting motion tween into our typography! It is REALLY tiring. But Thank GOD!! it looks nice than before! We are really happy!

After finished the first assignment, our lecturer have assigned all the students to form a group which have maximum 5 member. But in our group, we have 6 members including me. My group name is "The Blank People" and the group members are Siti Raihan (1112701447), Fatin Nuramanina (1112700886), Nurain (1112701449), Nur Faizah (1112700598) and Farzura Azreen (1112701254). Our leader have assigned all of the members to find any materials such as songs and speech for the 2nd assignment which is "A Kinetic Typography Assignment on Patriotism".

We have decided to have a meeting tomorrow (22/04/2012) Sunday, 9pm at the HB4 hostel study room. While having this meeting, we will be choosing the song or speech that we wish to use for our assignment. Afterwards, we will discuss about the typography and what we should do next. That is all for today's entry.
